This course covers troubleshooting manual and magnetic motor starters; control transformers; basic motor control and reversing motor circuits. Students will be testing components of an electrical control circuit, the operation of selector switches, float switches, on-delay timers, and the operation of control relays, as well as systems-level troubleshooting. Students must provide their own portable computer to access course curriculum through an online portal. The computer must meet the following minimum requirements: Windows, Mac, or Chromebook (no other portable devices are supported), 64-bit Browser with WebGL 2.0 support, sound card, and video card with WebGL support. Internet access outside of the Automation and Robotics center is required to access course content for study outside of class hours. Certification Preparation: The course is tailored to prepare students for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance SACA C-204 Motor Control Troubleshooting 1 Certification.
